How to Keep Your Dog Health and Happy During COVID-19?

The COVID-19 has led to some bad times for humans. Although dogs are safe, reduced outing and socialization can affect them too. Besides, not exercising them or the lack of dog wash can make them bored and unhealthy. In such cases, dogs may look for ways to entertain themselves, which might not be the way you want them to do Dog health.

So, follow these simple steps to keep your dog happy and healthy during COVID-19.

Dogs don’t catch COVID-19

If you don’t know, there’s no evidence that COVID-19 can attack dogs. Therefore, don’t be harsh on them when it comes to quarantining and social distancing. You can take them out once in a while for a walk or to the pet washing machine

But still, make sure to take the necessary precautions. While dogs can’t carry COVID-19, coronavirus particles can reside on their fur and transmit to humans. So, don’t let your dog come in contact with someone infected from COVID-19. When you take your dog out, maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from other humans and humans. And after coming back home, take your dog to the dog wash machine

Have enough food stored

Although most markets are open, it is wise to stock up ample amounts of dog food. Be sure to give your dogs a good diet to keep them healthy and in shape. However, if you are not able to exercise your dog enough, you can reduce his food intake accordingly. But don’t reduce it too much. Talk to your vet about how much your dog needs to eat before making any changes in the diet.

Keep yourself and your dog entertained

Dogs should not get bored, especially if you have a breed that is highly energetic or intelligent. In dogs, boredom can lead to over-excitement, which can convert into aggression. Thankfully, there are plenty of things you can do in your house to keep your dog, and yourself entertained.

If your home has a terrace, take your dog up there. A large terrace is all your dog needs to release all the accumulated energy. Take his favorite toy with him, and make him run and jump all over the terrace. If you train your dog regularly, doing some training exercises with him on the terrace could be an excellent idea, too.

If you don’t have a terrace, you keep your dog entertained by hiding his favorite treats in the house. He’ll spend enough time looking for them, which will tire him mentally and physically.

COVID-19 for dogs is not as tormenting as it is for humans, but it’s surely a boring period for them. Try to keep them entertained indoors by playing with them, exercising them indoors, and bathing them in a dog wash machine.
